Kevin Harvick Expresses Clear Opinions on Bubba Wallace Incident
During Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kevin Harvick expressed some strong opinions regarding the Bubba Wallace incident.
Kyle Larson made a move that infuriated Wallace, so Wallace reacted by rushing across the track and ramming the Cup Series champion from the previous year.
Wallace not only eliminated himself and Larson from the race, but he also cost Toyota teammate Christopher Bell as a result of his actions.
Wallace then charged at Larson and shoved him hard multiple times in front of their automobiles. Wallace has been given a one-race suspension, NASCAR confirmed on Tuesday.
Since 2001, Harvick, 46, has competed in the Cup Series. Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 4 Ford Mustang driver made it clear that Wallace’s actions were unacceptable.
“Hooking people up in the RR on purpose is never appropriate. Defend us against ourselves. Regarding Wallace hitting Larson in the right rear, Harvick posted on Twitter, “I hope this is the beginning of the end of it happening.
In another tweet, Harvick appeared to suggest that he believed a heavier penalty was necessary to deliver a more powerful message.
“I’ve been in some of these situations you see happening, but when I acted foolishly, Mike Helton was there to punish me with an iron hand.
When questioned about some of the actions of drivers in lower ranks of racing, Harvick responded, “I believe an iron fist is needed going forward and it will trickle down.
Mike Helton served as NASCAR’s previous president.
The majority of people believe Wallace earned the ban. Even more, people believe the one-race ban was too lenient.
